Good afternoon.
I’m Motoo.
The topic I choose is problem of economic depression and children in Moldova.
There is less news about this in Japan.
However, this is ‘current’ critical problem there.
According to NHK, Moldova has been suffering from economic depression since 1991, the year when they gained independence from Soviet.
After the independence, many companies which were established by Soviet withdrew from Moldova.
So, many people lost their job, and Moldovan industries took heavy damage.
Because of these problem, many people emigrate to abroad, Russia, Rumania, Italy, France…
A half of population, 2million, leave their home land and work at overseas.
Thus many parents go work abroad and children are left.
Children must live with their grand parent or by themselves.
So, care and education of children become poor.
It was reported by Yoko Kawamura, a doctoral course student of Waseda University, at a briefing session about 20th anniversary of Moldovan independence.
Supporting Association for Revival Moldova, this is small supporting organization, says because of economic depression, the Moldovan government couldn’t pay much money for education.
So, we need to support them, especially problem about children, women, disabled people… which supports from the government are not enough.
This is very important current news. It has been happening so long time. I think the life of Moldovan children is something we can not imagine. There are tons of children who never got education in this world. I do hope such children disappeard. There are only tiny things we can do for them like we can pay for them. But I think what we,students, should do is studying and think what we can do for them. What I figured is I study harder and live. And someday I earn lots of money to give them.

It is very important to think about the international news. Especially, we live in the relatively rich country, so we tend to forget that there are countries whose situation is difficult. The world economy is in recession, so it is a hard time for lots of countries. However, I didn’t think that children have to live without their parents and they can’ get enough education. As you suggest, we should support them in some ways.
