The news I'm interested in is about Nobel Prize. I picked up this article from 3 different sources which are Yomiuri newspaper, The Japan Times, and news on TV.
According to Yomiuri newspaper, The Japan Times, and TV news, three US men won the Nobel Prize in physics on tuesday because they discovered that the universe is expanding at an accelerating pace.
Actually I could not find any difference by comparing contents of three sources.
However I found just one difference. It is a page number on which the article is written.
In Yomiuri newspaper, this article is written on page 33 which is almost last page of the newsspaper.
In The Japan Times online, it was difficult to find this article because it is not written on first page.
But on TV this news is like the important and big one. An anchor man commented on it at first.
I'm glad if you are also interested in this news.

This news is very interesting. It is surprising that the universe is expanding. The universe is very big and beyond my imagination. Maybe anything is happening in the universe because we still have lots of things which we don’t know.
ReplyDeleteMoreover, you found that each media reports the news in different points, which means which news they want to emphasize is different (I suppose). If this idea is right, the Japan Times and the Yomiuri put their emphasis on other news like economy and society, rather than academic news.

This is very interesting blog!! I have never thought about what pages they are on. I guess it depends on how they think how important the news is. Also this news is interesting too. As Marumi says it is surprisng me that the universe is still expanding even it is huge already. I think it's very very difficult to understand about whole entire universe but still we can know more about it. And it is necessary for human beings to try to know because it might lead us to go there someday. Surely, I would love to go the end of universe!!

The story about Nobel Prize is current and interesting news I think. There is much room to investigate and study about the universe. Discovering the universe is expanding at an accelerating pace is wonderful. It stimulates our imagination. By the way, CERN announced that their experiment shows neutrino is faster than light recently. These days, universal science is offering new vision of our world.

ReplyDeleteWhat is your point about how the three news sources reported the news? You have noticed an interesting thing about the reporting priority - Please explain what is interesting and why!
And please tell us more about the contents and the significance of their discovery - the universe is expanding. I don't understand well and I didn't see this news.
Finally, you should give us the sources online where we can check this news. You can search Yomiuri online on campus, I think.
